Juan Gavilanes The Saga Begins

Date : April 12, 2007
Time: 8:58 pm Ecuadorian Time
Place: Cochancay, Ecuador

I apologize to all my fans who read my blogs that I wasn´t able to come up with anything new for the past couple of days. Let´s get started with what I had to go through with these days. First off lets start with arriving to the airport. When I arrived at the airport I thought that I would get home soon so I can go to sleep right?.... wrong. I spent most of my day dealing with Ecuador custom agents. It was a painstaking 4 hours where I had to speak with them and tell them the purpose of my trip. Unfortunately in order for them to release me and leave me alone I ha to bribe them. Ecuafor is a wonderful place but the only bad thing it has is lot of corruption. Instead of letting me go they decided beacuase I was ecuadorian american they could get some money of me. I know if I let them get away with it it would be wrong but I knew if I kept arguing with them that I would spend all day so I just decided to go with it.I spotted the officer 40 dollars and he let me go. The next step was to go to sleep as soon as possible so I can wake up early tommorow morning to get ready for work on my house. And so I did.
When I arrived to the construction site I realized there had to be much work to be done.I knew I needed to buy material for the house and that what I did. I got in my pickup and made a 20 minute trip to LA TRONCAL which is a small town south of Cochancay. I arrived and to my dismay I realized I didn´t carry that much money on me so I decided to call my dad to help me with some of the payments I had to make. He fortunately was able to help me pay half of the expenses. As I got the site I noticed that my house was yet done to my stisfaction and still needed alot of work. So I decided to gather every worker I had for a small meeting and tell them exactly what I wanted to see for the next 15 days I was going to be here. They soon left what they were doing and approached me. I spoke with them and told me the specific time period my needs were going to be reached. I then spoke about payroll and how I was going to pay them.Considering I was really tight on money I told them they would have to wait till the end of the month for their salary. They didn´t like that very muvh but oh well thats life.Either was I knew I had to be rigid and aggresive with my workers or else nothing would be done .

Juan Gavilanes The Saga Begins

Date: Tuesday April 2, 2007
Time: 1:00 pm
Place: My truck

I know I haven't been able to write for the past week but let me explain why. For one thing my stupid truck blew a radiator hose while going down the Goethals Bridge about 3 days ago. At that point I'm supposed to stop my truck immediately and call for a tow truck to send it to the shop to get that fixed because that is a really dangerous situation. However I took my chances and drove the rest of the way with radiator fluid leaking out the hose. My Engine temperature rose as I drove and I was scared that my engine would stall and I would lose my brakes. Fortunately for me that wasn't the case. I spent over this weekend about 400 dollars to get it fixed. I was really bummed out because till this day I've been doing nothing but work work work just to compensate for what I lost for that day. That is reason one why I couldn't daily write my blogs here comes now the big reason why I couldn't write blogs.
The second reason is turns out that I need to send out a large sum of money to fix a financial situation I have in my country. I'm really frustrated because I spoke with my financial partner on my construction of the house I'm building and he told me I wouldn't have to pay until next month. Now I have until next week to come up with that sum of money or the deadline to the construction of my house will go on until December and I need it to be done by this summer. I don't know what to do. I have school and If I leave school I can manage passing all my courses but It will be much more difficult for me and also my job. Each day that I'm not out working I lose a lot of money. So I'm in the clutch of just tearing out my hair. Somebody please help me!!!!

Juan Gavilanes The Saga Begins

Date: Tuesday, March 27, 2006

Place: My house

Right now at this moment I'm trying to think of how I can become a successful person. The other day I was watching the well known movie Goodfellas starring Robert Deniro and Ray Liotta. When I saw this movie I noticed something that I could use to become successful. I started to laugh to myself cause I found this in a Italian mafia movie. I noticed how the mafia is so well organized and always looked for ways to get around the system so they can get more money. I noticed that I wasn't organized with my work. I did my work but I never kept a logbook. If I didn't keep a logbook I'm unable to calculate the miles I run throughout the year and when the IRS comes around I will be in big trouble. Also I am getting too satisfied with what I am currently doing as a CDL driver. I know I must keep looking or the next best thing and go for it. The more money I make the closer I am to retiring at an early age and live life. Be able to go to my house and wake p whenever I want to and do whatever I want to do.

Today I didn't wake up in a good mood . I was so soar from Sunday's martial arts class that when I got up this morning all my body frozen solid. I couldn't move without feeling pain. It's funny that when I used to practice frequently waking up after practice was a piece of cake but now its a different story. It's been almost four years since I started practicing martial arts again. However I know in a couple of weeks I will be in the same top shape I was before. Now unfortunately due to work and school, I wasn't able to keep myself physically fit. I have a fat belly now and I get tired for doing normal day to day activities. I hope with me going back to class I will be able to get my edge back. I used to be a fearless fighter when I used to step in the mat to spar with another martial artist. Now I'm the total opposite and I have only my myself to blame.
It was funny when I first arrived at class. When they saw they were surprised to see me. They were happy to see my face again and asked why was I away. I explained to them my whole ordeal with building my home and working full time and the understood. They were just happy at the fact that I was back and ready for action. I was excited to know that I was going back and try to reach my best physical and mental fitness. I know that I will become a better person with martial arts in my life.

Juan Gavilanes The Saga Begins

Date: Sunday, March 25,2007

I apologize to all of you if I haven't written in two days. Its kinda hard to get up after working 6 days straight. If you have a full time job, go to school and take care of your family you know what I mean. Well I luckily managed to get up kinda early today about 10 am and I knew I had to catch up on some writing. Well for today I was thinking of just staying at home watch goodfellas all day today or watch soccer. Either way I knew I wasn't going anywhere and that I would just relax. Also I believe that my entire family is not going to be at my apartment so I think I wont hear another whisper for the rest of the day. OK this week nothing really happened today nothing really interesting to talk about except one thing. I'm quite relieved that the construction of my house I'm building in Ecuador is almost complete. I can finally go for a small vacation and relax and drink at my bar. Its incredible to think that I can own a bar at my house. I will be able to hang out with my friends and family and throw parties every weekend. I'm so glad to think that my dreams are actually coming true. I am getting what I always wanted and I'm striving for more. I have to thank my family for supporting me in everything that I did and above all Jesus Christ for blessing me with undying motivation to strive forward in life.

Juan Gavilanes The saga begins

Well I thought as I',m waiting for my box to come in to load it I might as well right a little something in the meantime. Um I would just like to say in this blog that it may seem easy writing blogs everyday for about ten minutes but if you have a life like me its gets kinda difficult. I really can't just stop work to start doing homework. I constantly on the road all day and my truck is basically my bread and butter. If I stop to write on my laptop I miss very valuable time to finish my trip. Luckily for today the ports are kinda busy so I kinda have between 15-20 min waiting time before my container comes in. Either ways I'm willing to sacrifice sleeping and social time for at the end become a better me. I'm striving to get my MBA and if I manage to get that I'm going to get my PhD in my field. I want to become the best and nothing else and I don't give up. I may leave it for a while but I don't give up. Giving up is for losers with low self esteem. I'm not that way I know for a fact if you really want it you'll get. So if anyone is reading this blog make sure to keep that attitude. Nobody will make your life easy, you must make it easy and wealthful.

Juan Gavilanes The saga Begins

Date: Wednesday, March 21, 2007
Time:10:27 am
Place: In my truck

OK basically this blog is about the response I have to last night's presentation. I really was quite impressed to the different goals and aspects to the students in this class. People who have traveled the world, People who are set to having a production label, others having or have had already their own business. Its admirable how people who have been born into poor neighborhoods have turned into successful individuals.Well as for me I have to reach my goal and that goal is to make money soon so I will be able to live comfortably in Ecuador. I love my parents country so much that I'm willing to move from the U.S to live there. I have everything that I could possibly want from there so that is my motivation. My motivation to strive to become the best that I can be and become better than my father.Better than my father so he can proud of my accomplishments and will be relaxed to know the fact that his son is alright in life.
